The core characteristics of GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, also known as TIG) welding machines are as follows:

 

Core Process Characteristics
They utilize a non-consumable tungsten electrode and an arc between the electrode and the workpiece as the heat source. Inert gases-such as argon or helium-are used throughout the process to shield the weld pool from the atmosphere. Filler wire can be added as needed; the process produces virtually no spatter and results in welds of extremely high purity.

 

Heat Control Characteristics
They allow for precise control of heat input, making them suitable for welding various metals ranging from 0.1 mm to 10 mm in thickness. When equipped with a pulse function, they can further minimize workpiece deformation, making them particularly ideal for welding thin sheets and components sensitive to heat.

 

Material Compatibility Characteristics
They can weld carbon steel and stainless steel, as well as various reactive metals such as aluminum, magnesium, titanium, copper alloys, and nickel alloys. DC electrode-negative (DCEN) polarity is suitable for most metals, while AC mode provides a cathodic cleaning action to remove surface oxide layers from aluminum and magnesium alloys.

 

Equipment Configuration Characteristics
Configurations range from manual to semi-automatic and fully automatic systems. High-end models can integrate multi-axis motion control, constant penetration technology, and seam tracking systems to achieve automated welding in all positions.
