You can assess whether a GTAW welder needs maintenance by evaluating three aspects: its general condition, core system performance, and fault warning signals:

 

Abnormal General Condition
Accumulated dust on the equipment surface; visible wear or clogging of the welding torch nozzle or contact tip; damaged or exposed cable insulation.
Gas leaks, poor coolant circulation, or coolant levels falling below the standard mark; these issues require immediate basic maintenance.


Abnormal Core System Performance
Significant discrepancies in current/voltage readings or unresponsive controls after startup; stuttering fan operation; unusual internal noises or a burning odor.
Unstable arc, poor weld bead formation, or misalignment of the shielding gas nozzle during test welds; these indicate that core circuitry or gas systems require inspection and maintenance.

 

Fault Warning Signals
Control panel displays overcurrent or overheat error codes; the unit trips the breaker upon startup or experiences a significant drop in output power; these require shutting down the machine for in-depth maintenance and troubleshooting.
Frequent triggering of overheat protection during continuous operation; this indicates heavy dust accumulation in the cooling system, necessitating immediate cleaning and maintenance.
